Following on the heels of Jamie Brooks' guest post: a small uproar is brewing in the UK after news that the country's criminal forensic database contains the DNA of a 7-month-old baby girl. This comes after revelations earlier this year that the UK's criminal databases hold over 100,000 genetic profiles from children who have never been charged with a crime.

Unless there are a lot of Babyface Finsters (click here for episode) running around London, banking children's DNA serves no purpose other than undermining civil liberties. But, as the saying goes, today's child is tomorrow's criminal. It'll be interesting to see how the first DNA dragnet at a nursery is carried out.
