There's a baby boom in Hollywood and celebrity surrogacy is front and centre.
From Elton John, Nicole Kidman and Neil Patrick Harris to Ricky Martin, Sarah Jessica Parker and Dennis Quaid, a star-studded cast is enlisting the help of surrogate mothers to grow their families.
Celebrity surrogacy could in fact be a trend, says Dr. Stuart Fischoff. After all, a baby bump is not for everyone.
"Pregnancy is a bit intrusive and incapacitating for some, risky for mother and fetus after a 'certain age,' and impossible for others, says Fischoff, a leading media psychologist.
According to Fischoff, "the ones who can't afford the risks of pregnancy or carrying to term, or of losing precious time from their burgeoning careers, or who might find it hard getting into fighting shape and sloughing off weight again, then off-the-shelf (adoption: Madonna and Brangelina) or right from the factory (surrogacy: Kidman, Bassett, Sara Jessica Parker) might be just what the doctor ordered."
